Ahhhhh man this is how it should be done! I’ve known Phil since 2001 and I’ve always liked his eclectic approach to the often too narrow world of electronic music. Personally there is nothing I hate more than a 70 minute mix of Deep House, Techno or whatever… it’s just so linear, boring and unimpressive to me.

On this mix Phil shows that nothing can substitute real musical knowledge of the overall history of your genre (take notes people who only play shit that came out in the last 3 weeks). The mix covers a span of about 20 years of electronic music. Classic early 90’s techno, dubby stuff, jacking funky jams and even UK Garage. Did you record this mix especially for me or what? Got a very nice treat in my mailbox today, a super exclusive mix from the ASTROLAB records crew in France. The label run by Laurent features some of the best Nu-Neo-No whatever the hell you call it Disco, Soul, Rare Groove, spacey sounds… The label has major players on the roster like hmm… did anyone hear of Pilooski (rhetorical question), Kaos, Photonz, Cage & Aviary… pretty much every release from the label gets major play from the A-list Djs in the genre; Losoul, Woolfy, Rub N’ Tug, etc…
