Future Classic: Kidkanevil “Tokyorkshire Research Inc”

Beats

Not so well written by: Max Robin

Do you know about Tokyorkshire? It seems to be some place in the UK that is home of the peculiar beatmaker Kidkanevil. In his beatmaking research, he stumbled on the work of Raymond Scott. Mr Scott’s music has been used in classic cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Ren & Stimpy and the Simpsons to name a few. Interesting music that gave Kidkanevil inspiration for a new beattape.

Very peculiar beats that explore new grounds. It sounds really electronic but not in in “synthy” kind of way, more in a “sampler” way. Loops in ways not aprooved by the FDA. Research. By the way, as stated on the bandcamp page, there is no order for those beats. The track order is just a suggestion. Kidkanevil himself talks about the project:

(Oh in by the way, J-Dilla heads will recognise Raymond Scott’s work in the sample on “Lightworks” taken from the Donuts LP)

Max Robin is a towntempo kind of guy. He loves beats. Making them, sampling them, shaking them, baking them, spinning them, radio hosting them,... He releases a beat a day at 30bpm.com. Oh and he's also 1/2 of wobbly affair Pax Kingz with Millimetrik and 1/2 of irreverent french rap duo MC Phylis et Maxime Robin. Oh que oui!
