Future Classic: Eman x Vlooper “Mantra”

Hip-Hop

Hip-Hop album hype usually comes off of one lead single. I still remember seeing the Still D.R.E. video for the first time and I knew right then and there the album would be a classic.

It’s a hard thing to pull off but ill be damned if Mantra by veteran duo Eman & Vlooper is not having the same effect. Infectious piano driven beat, check; hard rhymes clearly stating a return to form that never really left, check. And it seems everyone I play this for or that hears it falls in the same trap I did: obsessively play it on repeat and share with as many people as possible.

I’ve always professed my love for the focused one MC one producer format and the upcoming record (Sept. 2nd) will surely deliver. Based on mantra Eman seems driven and his take no prisoners approach is fuelled by the haunting Vlooper beat whose production has progressed with this gem. If the album is anything like this complex yet straightforward banger than the Quebec rap scene will have to hear Eman & Vlooper‘s wake up call loud and clear. Bump this in a dimly lit back alley near you.
