You may have heard that my dubstep outfit (Pax Kingz, Pascal Asselin alias Millimetrik and me) just released a new EP filled with bass. For this special occasion, I got the pleasure to interview myself for MIMS!
me asking- What should we expect from this EP? More of the ambient melodic sound of the first EP?
me ansering- More bass! One of the things we didn’t like about the first EP live was that it was kind of slow not too much “in your face” bass. That’s more we’re were at here. And also the fact that we work differently here. For the first EP, we we’re lazy exchanging files over the internet (we live in the same city!) but this one is all done with 2 peoples in front of the computer. Why is it important? This sound alot more homogenous and less like each solo work. People who know our solo music could say “this one is Max” or “this one is Millimetrik”. That’s not the case with this EP.
me asking- Less hiphop than?
me ansering- In a way. The drums are more electronic. Being from a hiphop background, it’s sometimes new territories from me. That being said, we got 2 guess french MCs on two tracks (K6A’s Ostione and MC Phylis) si it kind of gives some kind of hiphop feel to the EP.
me asking- Why the medieval theme?
me ansering- Again I must compare with the first EP. This time the goal was fun! And the medieval seems a good idea to do something really different. Combining two worlds that seem so far from each other. And it’s fun! At least that’s what we got from the succes of our special edition handmade swordlike EP at the lauch. Yeah!
