Future Classic: Romare “Love Songs EP” (Black Acre Records)

House / Techno

Finally, Romare’s new four track “Love Songs: Part One” EP on Black Acre is out! We are really excited for the good news but could it possibly match our high expectations? Yes, it does.

Last years’ ‘Meditations on Afrocentrism’ EP was definitely one of our favorites of 2012. It was such a breath of fresh air to have a new producer bring a very organic approach to new school isms like Juke and UK House, some tracks on that EP sounded like if Fela with DJ Rashad and Theo Parrish. Very few people can transcend those micro-genres and inject their own magic which will make the song survive beyond the limited time when that micro-genre is hot.

Well, we are very happy to confirm that the new EP is all that and a bag of chips. Hints of Blues mixed with hip-hop drum breaks, footwork, 808 sounds and all that at a very different tempo. “Complex but never complicated.”
