I’ve been meaning to post some of these for a little while now but seeing as it is Oscar night I figured that now might be a good time! The fact that I’m from Montreal and that Incendies was nominated for best foreign film tonight was enough in itself to be rooting for it to win…

But I had a vested interest in rooting for Incendies to win: my mom worked on the movie and was on location in Jordan for a few months. She has been working in movies for over 25 years as a decorator and it was her first time being part of an oscar nominated movie. She now has an answer to every argument we have… “yeah son, you make cool mixtapes but I was part of an oscar nominated movie” Ok she’s got me there.
