Nas, Talib, Jay Electronica in Montreal

Hip-Hop is dead, long live hip-hop…

Hmmm, who managed to put this bill together? Talib, Nas and up and coming force Jay Electronica will be in Montreal at Metropolis on tuesday July 22nd.

I’ve always been a Nas guy. He’s probably my favorite New York MC. Conscious but not too preachy, probably one of the most introspective MC’s. He’s been killing us since 1993 so sometimes we forget how much of a veteran he actually is… 18 years and counting. I’m really not too crazy about his last record, for some reason he always seems to put out one crazy on and then a so-so one… Never caught him live but as a Hip-Hop head he’s one of the guys you have to see at least once in your life.

Talib on the same bill is nothing to complain about… nice 2/1

I’m almost as excited to check out Jay Electronica as I am for Nas and Kweli. He’s one of the most innovative and counter mainstream guys out there… he keeps releasing digital EP’s, strange YouTube videos and that’s it. For those who don’t know him yet, he’s definetly on that abstract MF Doom type vibe.
