Seeing as this week i’m doing a “Forgotten Treasures” theme revolving around G-Funk selections I reached out to a few homies to find out some of their secret weapons. So when I started talking to Onra he gave me like 5 picks instead of one, so here are 8 of his most treasured g-funk treasures!

For those who have been sleeping under a rock for the past 3-4 years, french producer ONRA is one of the dopest and most versatile producers in the game right now. Even though for him it all starts with the boom and the bap, he has mad range…. Be on the lookout for his new projects!

Oh, and check out the love my boy ONRA is getting on Jay-Z’s website!

#1
Kurupt “We can freak it”

Kurupt – We Can Freak It

@ONRABeats: kurupt at his best. out of his double LP solo debut “kuruption”, one east coast cd, one west coast cd, but this one was truly the highlight. “battlecat, why you made a beat like this?”

#2
Xzibit ft. hi-c “In my face”

Xzibit – In My Face

@ONRABeats: it’s been kind of rare to hear xzibit on top of a real west coast beat. on this one, he seems to enjoy it so much that the intro lasts for almost 2 minutes. peep the talkbox niceness. dj quik on the beat, one of my biggest inspirations, flawless

#3
2pac “My block”

2Pax – My Block

@ONRABeats: out of “the show” soundtrack, it’s not one of 2pac’s most famous songs but it’s one of my favorite. produced by easy mo bee, it seems that it has always been a good collaboration.

#4
Snoop dogg ft Tha Dogg Pound, Nate Dogg, Warren G & Charlie Wilson “Groupie”

Snoop Dogg – Groupie

@ONRABeats: even if it’s snoop dogg, i still think this album is slept on. there’s a lot of legendary guests on this one, helping him to make just another g-funk classic, it would be nice to hear it in parties.

#5
Richie Rich “Dirdie luv”

Richie Rich – Dirdie Luv

@ONRABeats: i love richie’s voice, it is truly g-funk classic. i picked this track cause i never hard anything like this on the west coast, the combination of drum machine, snaps, guitar, horn sample and a few synths is very original.

#6
Dru Down feat. Yukmouth & Poppa LQ “Breezy”

Dru Down – Breezy

@ONRABeats: from another slept on album. a different kind of beat on this song, but still g-funk, featuring yukmouth from tha luniz. “pimpin’ ain’t easy”.

#7
LBC Crew “Beware of my crew”

LBC Crew – Beware of my crew

@ONRABeats: probably not really forgotten cause it’s a classic, just like some other stuff on this list, but i think it stands as one of g-funk most popular anthems. of course with a zapp sample.

#8
Tha Dogg Pound “Tha Dogg food LP”

The Dogg Pound – Smooth

@ONRABeats: the whole LP is dope, all-time classic, one of the albums that i’ve listened the most in my life. it has to be in this top, but i cant choose one particular song. still bumping this shit until today.
