“My Favorite Record Stores” by J-BOOGIE (California)

In honor of all the great record stores in the world still doing their (essential!) thing. We asked some of our favorite artists out there to give us a little run down of their personal favorites.

Here are some of J-BOOGIE‘s personal favorites.

Favorite Hometown Record Store : Groove Merchant, San Francisco (US)

@JBoogieJustin:  It’s been around since before I was even buying records. Great folks and there’s always a gem or 2 hidden in there (Klute OST like whoa).

Favorite International Record Store : DMR, Tokyo (Japan)

@JBoogieJustin:  DMR in Tokyo. Amazing selection across all genres + stuff I’ve never seen in US, with listening stations and all the hot new joints on the wall!

R.I.P Store you miss the most : Open Mind, San Francisco (US)

@JBoogieJustin:  Open Mind. It was a cultural mecca for DJs in SF, and half the time you just dropped in to talk shit with the staff. Maybe you were lucky enough to make it to the basement, or drop by when some DJ was giving up the game and letting go of their collection.
