Free Download: Poirier “Kidnap Riddim”

By now it should not be a surprise for anyone keeping an eye on Poirier‘s catalog to see him take apart and then reconstruct different genres to redefine well-established boundaries. The surprise lies more in which ones will be the target of the producer’s attention this time around.

The latest iteration features a crossover of the dancehall “riddim” tradition of having different vocalists and MCs record a track over the same beat and apply it to a hip-hop track. Featured on this free download are guests from various origins laying their voice on the minimal riddim, from Haiti’s Mr OK to Uganda’s MC Kween G and France’s Set&Match, with Montrealers Boogat and L’Xtrmst.Zen.

As usual, the end result sounds like the bouncy audiobook of a global dancefloor travel guide. From North to South and East to West.

The EP is available as a free download via Poirier’s website at www.PoirierSound.com.
