Future Classic: Benjamin “Those Memories” (Cherries Records)

We had the pleasure of premiering this track from our friends at Cherries Records back in December on a mix I did for the Moovmnt crew in Amsterdam(link). “This Time” was definitely one of the highlights on it.

Finally this blissful piece of modern soul from promising Chicago-based singer & multi-instrumentalist BENJAMIN gets a nice vinyl release and a great video (by VECT) to accompany it perfectly. Great to see soul releases like this one that inspired from the classic late 70’s early 80’s vibe while bringing something new to it. Instead of mainstream artists like Bruno Mars and Pharell sucking the soul and life out of these Soul classics and dumbing it down for the top 40.

On the B-side, the 7” comes with great edit from Cherries Records co-founder and good friend Shred One who stripped and extended “This Time” into a sophisticated and sexy jam!

If you’re a vinyl head, then you should probably scoop up that copy quickly or you might regret it forever!
