Future Classic: Munro “BYOG/SIDWIR”

House / Techno

Very nice EP filled with summery vibes courtesy of young London-based producer Munro on the up and coming XVI Records out of Vancouver, Canada.

Mid-tempo or Slow Deep House is a tricky thing. For me it’s sometimes very hard to differentiate the tracks that are 9’s and 10’s from the plethora of tracks that are just ok. It’s a genre that sometimes turns me off because there are just so many average tracks out there that just don’t seem to do a whole lot. And average tracks as a researcher sometimes piss me off more than awful ones.

Pulling off an EP like this is an exercise in minimalism. You need just the right amount of catchy chords, vocal bits, crisp drum, warm baseline and in this case very strong Balearic beat influences. When it’s done right you fall in love with it right away despite its simplicity. The one for us is SIDWIR, which just hits all the right spots!

Munro (not to be confused with Murlo who we also love) pulls off an instant classic for any chill out session, drive to the beach, drinks on a patio. You get the picture. One that will please house and soulful hip-hop heads.

You’ll be hearing this one on our next MIMS Monthly Radio show that’s for sure! We’ll definitely be keeping an ear out for Munro and XVI.
