MIMS Guest Mix: TOM B’s “Léve Léve Mix” (France, Bongo Joe Records)

It is an absolute joy to welcome Tom B, France’s eclectic DJ with an eclectic touch. He’s been a purveyor of fine global grooves for over 20 years and has recently collaborated with the outstanding Bongo Joe label for a compilation titled “Léve Léve” which chronicles the sound of Sao Tomé & Principe in the 70s​-​80s.

Discovering the rich, harmonic and rhythmic musical heritage of Sao Tomé & Principe, has uplifted my mind to levels, previously unreached after 30 years of searching for music. From Brasil, to Angola, Cabo Verde, my quest in Lusophonia took me to Sao Tomé, meeting most of the legendary musicians in their homes, with a lot of emotion involved. I hope you will enjoy these gems as much as I do. In memory of our beloved Pedro Lima (1944-2019)
