Video Premiere: Hypnotic Brass Ensemble “Heru”

Dubbed as the Original Bad Boys of Jazz, The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (HBE) are seven incredibly talented kin originating from Chicago and based in NYC who have blazed a trail as leading artists in the music industry today.

With the respect and personal invitation of some of the greatest artists of all time, HBE have shared stages with Prince, Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), Damon Albarn, Snoop Dogg and De la Soul while gracing the most prestigious stages and acclaimed festivals worldwide.

Building a strong technical foundation under the teaching and mentorship of their father, renowned Jazz trumpeter Kelan Philip Cohran (Earth Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan and Sun Ra Arkestra), the brothers honed in on all aspects of their craft, mastered their respective instruments and formed the Phil Cohran Youth Ensemble in 1990.

Fresh off an extended European tour for “Hypnotic Joints Vol. 1” – a series of instrumental tracks recorded by the group over the years and soon to be available on a beautiful 12” – the Bad Boys of Jazz are proud to release a video for ‘Heru’ to conclude this run of dates and get ready to hit the road again. There’s no stopping HBE! The end of 2018 will find Hypnotic Brass Ensemble back in Europe for Cork Jazz Festival in Ireland, Oct. 26th and at Dublin National Concert Hall on December 1st for the first ever live performance of their new album “Book of Sound”. In between these dates, they will be taking their infectious energy to South America.

Next year will set them on another tour-de-force, as the first three months of 2019 will see the band travelling and performing in Australia, India and South Africa.
