2010 – Top Posts on MusicIsMySanctuary.com

2010 was a really great year for Music Is My Sanctuary. Musically there was tons of amazing discoveries to share with you all and the audience grew about 5x in a year! I really feel blessed to have this platform to share all this great content with you all. According to the number of times these pages were checked out, here are the top 10 posts of 2010.

1. Brostep vs Dubstep

By far the biggest conversation of the year on this site. With almost 100 really great comments this was a great way to say some of the stuff that was floating around the “scene” for a while. It was mostly focused on the Montreal bass scene but still got tons of reads and comments from all over!

2. Onra vs Lexis Beat Tape

I booked Onra twice in Montreal this year and he’s now become part of the fam. This is a mix we did together this summer that is based on our teenage years of listening to Hip-Hop and R&B

3. Inbeat Record Store R.I.P

One of the saddest news of 2010 was when my good friend Christian Pronovost called me to say that Inbeat Records which was so crucial to the Montreal music scene (since 1987!!!) was closing. He wrote a really heartfelt post that was great the share on the site

4. Kenlo Complete Craqunuques

Ask most beat heads in Montreal who their favourite hometown producer is and odds are they will answer mr KENLO. He had a great year with projects like “Craquenuque Brun”, “Cailloux Germés” but also as part of Montreal-Quebec super group Alaclair Ensemble

5. Music Is My Sanctuary Podcast #40

This was one of the hardest podcasts to put together so it was really great to see that the response was great too. MIMS Podcast #40 is a recap of the first forty podcasts: 40 tracks, 1 from each podcast.

6. Dj Tahira Guest Mix

I’ve hosted a lot of guest mixes on the site this year but this is the one that caught your attention the most. Tahira, all the way from Sao Paolo Brazil came by my house in November to record this dope as hell mix full of Soulful gems.

7. Future Classics

I’m happy to see that our two categories called “Future Classics” are working so well. It’s pretty self-explanatory; I post a lot of the new stuff I’ve discovered here…

8. Dela remixes Music Is My Sanctuary

For our landmark show #40 we asked our good friend DELA to take a shot at remixing “Music Is My Sanctuary”, the Gary Bartz classic that inspired the name of the site. I thought it was a great remix and you all agreed!

9. Forgotten Treasures

This is another of my favorite categories. “Forgotten Treasures” is like digging in your grandparents’ attic and discovering overlooked nuggets.

10. Jose James Tribute Mix by Fullrange

Francis Ranger aka FullRange was definitely the biggest contributor to MIMS this year and it was really great to see his posts and mixes get so much attention. This tribute mix focusing on up and coming jazz superstar JOSE JAMES has been making heads roll for a while!
