Dope new release on Pretty Light Music this month. It’s the first full record from Gramatik that I knew from a previous compilation by Pretty Light. Like the title say “beats and pieces”. Because of the title, I thought about Coldcut and the Ninja Tune sound from the late nineties, the beattapes phenomena and the interesting facts about series in general. I don’t know how much of this is important here.
Gramatik makes actual songs and not just beats like the title hints at. Jazzy sampling beats. Kind of upbeat. Like Pretty Light’s, I think those are made to be perfect for live use. Not just an headphone trip at home kind of album like most instrumental album these days. Very Refreshing.
