Future Classic: Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band “Love Like This”

Latin

Bacao Rhythm & Steel BandLast summer I went to check out Roy Ayers do a small intimate performance on a rooftop in Brooklyn. Sounds sexier than it was considering the rain and countless amounts of cornballs who somehow happened to show up.

Following the performance we were treated to Rich Medina spinning. Considering my wife was five months pregnant, we definitely kept it cool with the dancing, which is a challenge. About an hour into his set, Rich dropped a test pressing of of Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band’s version of Faith Evans’ “Love Like This”. The cool dropped. The steel drums rang heavy through the speakers and you can literally feel the crowd’s reaction. It was a beautiful thing.

Originally sent to a select few tastemakers the track, along with the flipside “Dog Was A Doughnut” , just released on the newly minted Big Crown Records (shout out to Akalepse) this past week.

Just like their previous release which was a cover of 50 Cent’s “P I M P” this is a dancefloor killer.

Don’t sleep on this..this 7″ will bang all summer!
