BOOM MUSIC – Show #33 (Hosted by Colectivo Futuro)

This month on Boom Music, we welcomed back Lexus Blondin, one of the key movers behind London’s Total Refreshment Centre and Church of Sound.

We discussed the first release on the newly minted TRC label, from the wonderful Vels Trio, and what’s more, Church of Sound’s upcoming first birthday celebration.

Church of Sound has undoubtedly become one of London’s most interesting jazz nights, hosted in an inconspicuous church in Clapton, Hackney. Each event sees the reinterpretation of compositions by some of the most innovative and cherished figureheads in jazz, such as Yussef Lateef, Alice Coltrane or Idris Muhammad, to name a few.

Lexus also blessed us with a selection of new and old favourites from the likes of Emma-Jean Thackray and Billy Harper. To kick things off Miguel takes us on a psychedelic journey and Oli rounds up proceedings by sharing some of his favourite releases of late, including the likes of Binker & Moses, Dolenz and Neue Grafik.
