Exclusive Premiere: Ben Marc “Jaw Bone”
Having fallen in love with Ben Marc’s previous single, MIMS is super excited to share “Jaw Bone”. Out on October 16, the song swings with an up-tempo drum-driven rhythm, complimented by synths and horns.
Already championed by Gilles Peterson, no less, “Jaw Bone” is the second track lifted from his forthcoming LP “Glass Effect” (which features a stellar line-up of featuring artists, including Judi Jackson, Jason Yarde, Ed Riches and Midnight Roba (Attica Blues).
With this offering, Ben Marc invites the listener into his personal universe, delivering a rich and varied record incorporating elements of hip hop and electronica, through to heady dancefloor moments, all filtered through the lens of an accomplished jazz musician, multi-instrumentalist and producer.
According to Ben, “Jaw Bone came out of my love for jazz beats, vocal samples, clustered harmony and progressive subtle production intricacies. it expresses jazz, dance, sampling and electronics all in one piece”.
For those not so familiar, Ben Marc is a producer, musician, composer and bassist, who has played with the likes of China Moses, Ashley Henry, Matthew Herbert, Bret MC, Afrikan Boy, Mulatu Astake, Shabaka Hutchings, Miryam Soloman, Atjazz, Jose James, Dizzee Rascal, Zed-U, plus many more.
