Exclusive Premiere: Shur-I-Kan “Shut This Down”
Shur-I-Khan returns to Lazy Days Recordings with ‘Beats, Stings & Life’ a killer new EP , full of infections deep house and broken beat. “Shut This Down” is a vocal-led broken banger, dedicated to the memory of the late great Phil Asher.
Singer and songwriter Anna Stubbs may be familiar to broken beat fans from her work with Brotherly, who first surfaced on Bugz In The Attic own Bitasweet label. Shur-I-Kan is no newcomer to the bruk side either, having written and released songs with a West London swing, such as “Generations”, many years ago.
Elsewhere on the EP, the title track is classic SIK, pumping deep house with gorgeous piano and string arrangement, complemented by clever reprise version which builds and builds. The dark and hypnotic “Bubblin’ Up” rounds off this solid EP.
