Future Classic: Jimmy Flamante – Hip Beats Vol. 01

Beats

There is a ton of those beat tapes on the web nowadays. And few of them have a such an ugly cover and a generic title that the one from Jimmy Flamante. What is important though is the beats. Never judge a book by its cover. And in that department, it’s a standout project.

So we’re talking about hip-hop influenced, sampled heavy beats with a touch of electronic elements here and there. Sound familiar? It’s not really a new mix but what is interesting it’s the way it’s done. Hearing those beats, it’s not always clear what is sampled and what is played on a synth from the producer. The only down side for me is that at 13:55 it’s a bit short to give an carry the idea and get into the vision of the producer.

Juan Medina, aka Jimmy Flamante, is a laptop musician and music producer from Caracas, Venezuela.

MaxRobin

Max Robin is a towntempo kind of guy. He loves beats. Making them, sampling them, shaking them, baking them, spinning them, radio hosting them,... He releases a beat a day at 30bpm.com. Oh and he's also 1/2 of wobbly affair Pax Kingz with Millimetrik and 1/2 of irreverent french rap duo MC Phylis et Maxime Robin. Oh que oui!
