Forgotten Treasures

Livy Ekemezie “Friday Night” (1983, Odion Livingston)

Disco

via SOTU: Reissue of this incredibly rare and incredibly funky Nigerian Disco album!

Originally released in 1983 and pressed at William Onyeabor’s vinyl plant (the blue vinyl replicates the original vinyl pressing) and features the in-demand cut, “Delectation” which saw an edit by Motor City Drum Ensemble. This new issue is released on new label Odion Livingstone, based out of Lagos, Nigeria.

Odion Livingstone was set up in 2016 by Mr. Odion Iruoje, ex-resident producer at EMI Records and Temi Kogbe, a collector of vintage African recordings. They are based in Lagos, and have relationships with musicians, producers and record executives from the 1960s to the 80s. We see our efforts as an attempt to share our love for music.

“We hope to revisit our musical heritage (especially all forms of dance music; Afrobeat, Funk, Disco and Highlife) to unearth music that was previously unknown, or impossible/hard to find.”
