After an extended hiatus, coming back to MIMS is like a warm pair of house shoes: It just feels right.
I always look forward to Skratch Bastid and Cosmo Baker‘s year-end mixes. As the title implies, the pair combine new releases with whatever else they were playing that year and have assembled an eclectic two hours of music for your enlightened consideration. Lots of fire in this edition, from up-and-comers (Vic Mensa, MNEK) to timeless staples (Nina Simone, Aaron Neville), even a couple of Montrealers (Kaytra, Pomo) but especially dear to my heart is their decision to open with Maria Lionza, as my first ever Spanish verse was written to a Butta Beats (of Nomadic Massive fame) production that sampled the Willie Colón track. See you in 2015!
