Thank You – 7 Years of Music Is My Sanctuary

It’s hard to write this without falling into the usual clichés that come with celebrating an anniversary, our 7th but also the launch of our first full website redesign in 3 years. But I’ll try.

The MIMS website has exceeded every expectation I had on the day I sat down to think of a name for a website where I simply wanted to put my mixes online. “Music Is My Sanctuary” is inspired from the classic 1977 jazz record by Gary Bartz and is a very accurate way of expressing what it is to be absolutely obsessed with music. It’s a project that has come to define me and one I don’t think I will ever stop. Who knows what we’ll be listening to when we’re 80 years old!

I’m so grateful to have a wonderful team of contributors who share their discoveries. The website would not be where it is without them. I am proud because I think we’ve built a website that means something to the people who follow it. After all, discovering just one great song, artist or album can really make your day a bit better. So hopefully we’ve made you discover a few records that have become important in your life.

I have always had the objective of building a website that gives the reader the feeling of walking into a record store and having a chat with the staff who are happy to showcase their recent discoveries both old or new. Humans over Algorithms!

A huge thank you to our partners Tonton Communications, the Montreal web agency who helped us create this beautiful new version of the website. We hope you like it as much as we do. A big thank you to Philippe Sawicki, my partner in crime.

If you are in Montreal, we hope you can make it to our 7th Anniversary party @ Piknic Electronik on August 10th with our special guest, British House & Techno producer Leon Vynehall.

Thank you to the readers. We put our hearts into this so it’s always amazing to know that you’re out there.
