Tribute to KING STREET SOUNDS (Part 1) – Selected & Mixed by The Rawsoul

House / Techno

A “King Street Sounds“ Showcase Part 1

The show is now officially back after a little hiatus! To kick off things nicely, here’s a focus on another classic label from NYC : King Street Sounds and it’s sublabel Nite Grooves.

This mix strictly features music from the early releases between 1993 and 1995. Coming up with a distinctive soulful sound, the label quickly gained massive attention and attracted many heavyweight producers such as Blaze, Kerri Chandler, Mood II Swing, 95 North, Jovonn, Basement Boys, DJ Pierre, Johnny Dangerous, Smack, Masters At Work and so many more. On a personal level, these records had a major impact on me back in the days. To demonstrate how exciting and consistant the label originally was, I decided to play the music pretty much by following the catalogue numbers. Stay tuned for part 2!
