Yazz Ahmed “The Space Between The Fish & The Moon (La Saboteuse, Chapter One)”

Jazz

via Twistedsoul: Bahraini-British performer Yazz Ahmed is transforming what jazz means in 2017.

The recent Naim Records signee has built a credible reputation with her solo work as well as working with the likes of Radiohead, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Steve Williamson, Courtney Pine, These New Puritans and more. Ahmed recently released this first part of her new album “La Saboteuse” as an in-depth exploration of both her Bahraini and British roots. The album released in four chapters incrementally, unravelling the story, before the full version is available in May.

Each chapter has its own cover with beautiful illustrations by Bristol artist Sophie Bass. “I feel really touched. Nobody has ever created art from my music before, it’s really special.” says Yazz. Part of the new wave of artists credited with stirring up jazz, including Kamasi Washington, Yussef Kamaal, Sons of Kemet and The Comet is Coming, Yazz Ahmed is thrilled by the possibilities of making something new. Listen to “The Space Between The Fish & The Moon” and let Ahmed take you on a beautiful journey of forward-thinking jazz compositions. Get yourself thoroughly acquainted before the second chapter drops Friday March 10, 2017.
