Future Classic: Dead Obies “Collation Vol. 2 – Limon Verde: La Experiencia”

Hip-Hop

Dead Obies are on the rise. Hot off their Polaris Prize shortlist nomination and the critical acclaim of their excellent Montreal $ud, Limon Verde is the holy grail strain of sativa and the Obies are experimenting with new styles to keep pace with the ever changing rap landscape.

The tape is a mix of tracks with some street cuts like the hook heavy hypontic Hate Song or the throwback nod to their fan favorite Collation Vol.1 with the laid back loop driven H.O.P.E. Another favorite has Dead Os getting back to the blunted essence of their dark glitchy sound with the self-explanatory I Get High. Finally we are treated to another instrumental gem from boy-genius producer VNCE with the title track #LIMONVERDE.

Consistent and theme driven this latest offering is admittedly less dense than their debut but with no filler this mixtape that gives their fans a hearty snack to hold on until the next LP. Summer smoke sessions just got a new soundtrack!
