Future Classic: Ego Ella May “Zero”

Soul

I always search for new artists that go into the “Future-soul / Neo-soul” category or whatever you want to call it these days. Albums by artists like Jesse Boykins III or Fatima finish in my top 5 every year and their LP’s end up being on constant rotation in my home system..

When my friend Aisha made me discover London’s Ego Ella May, I immediately fell in love with her music. Her soothing voice over a selection of floating beats, without going too deep into an abstract left-field category definitely hits my R & B sweet spot.

After two excellent projects, 2013’s “The Tree” and 2014’s “Breathing Underwater“, she is back with a solid 3 track EP titled “Zero”. My personal favorite of this short project is the wonderful “How far”, produced by Wu-Lu and Reiss G, who contribute the perfect production to let Ego Ella May hypnotic voice work its magic.

None of this beautiful music has been issued on CD or LP, but everything is available at “name your price” on the bandcamp page. So don’t wait, download her complete discography and don’t be shy to drop a couple of dollars to motivate her to give us a full album this year!

Kramos

Since his parents bought him a used "Pyramid" mixer more than 20 years ago, Kramos has always been a fiend to discover new music in every format possible and put mixes together. His first love was hip hop, but his tastes are now more eclectic than ever. The monthly show "Fresh Taste" with his friend MC Tank Pumpin' is proof of that.
