Mixtapes can go from run of the mill to life-changing. New discoveries, track selection,pacing and mixing as well as theme and artwork are all critical componnents. Well Rajaz Mater by NYC’s Doc Delay has reached the apex of mixtapedom and blew my wig off on first listen a few years back.
If you want to discover facemelting turkish psychedelic rock tracks this mix is everything you need. Raw cuts, with the best parts scratched back for more impact (take the mindblowing Selda song Ince Ince) and all the great turkish rockers are present so you can start tracking down the records.
Finally the vocal drops and mixing are top notch and those lucky enough to have a physical copy (including a certain MTL record store) will appreciate the turkish walpaper textured on the cover and amazing graphics. As far as thematic mixes this is one of the best ever and you won’t be able to get these turkish psych nuggets out of your head; once you cross the Bosphorous Bridges there is no going back. Delay did it again!
