Forgotten Treasure: Lee Dorsey “Give it up” (1969)

This track proves that when you ask for certain things nicely, you just might get lucky. Or you can just put on this great track which deserves a spot on everyone’s “let’s get it on” playlist.

Lee Dorsey was an R&B singer from Louisiana singer during the 1960s. Much of his best work was produced by Allen Toussaint with instrumental backing provided by The Meters like this amazing track from 1969 originally out on Amy Records. Pretty hard to find on wax but you can also get this on the amazing Soul Jazz Records compilation “Saturday Night Fish Fry”
