Mix of the Day: Eric The Tutor: “Untitled D’Angelo Mix” (How Does It Feel?)

For those of you who don’t live in Montreal, I need to preface this by explaining that Montreal only really has two seasons: Winter, where artists hibernate and create the most insane material you have ever seen and Summer, where we all bask in that artistic glory and invite people from around the world to exchange and collaborate with us. Needless to say that our first big concert of the summer basically sets the tone for the year. This year, I am quivering with joy to say that big concert will be D’Angelo at Olympia on May 30th.

I think that any city that is hosting a D’Angelo show after his 10 year + hiatus is in all sorts of states but with our female and artist dominance in this city it almost feels like the trees are whispering smooth brown sugar melodies in our ears. The countless shows I’ve been to recently all seem to sneak in a few D’Angelo instru samples or at the very least follow in his smooth groove. As for the ladies, present company very much included, you just say that word that D’Angelo and it’s like hot flash city, everyone needs a glass of water. The best thing though is seeing how everyone seems to be speaking in a Voodoo language where every second sentence is a direct quote from its lyrics.

Now as exciting as that all is, how are we supposed to keep ourselves satiated for the next two weeks? And what about those less avid D’Angelo fans who might need a refresher course in all of his genius? Well we have our main man Eric the Tutor for that. He put out this absolutely insane 1 hour D’Angelo mix about a month ago, which has been cradling me to bed pretty much every night since and I think it is definitely time that I share this gem with you all. You might tear a little; it’s that kind of beautiful.
