Future Classic: DNTEL “Enya Mixes”

If you’ve been following my site for a little bit, you know that i’m very iffy on the whole beat tape stuff and especially with mash ups or remix projects. I think about 5-10% of them sound like they took more than a day to be made. I’m really liking this one because, well… I have a secret shameful love for Enya‘s music. I remember listening to her music when I was like 9 and I was really captivated. The remixes really respect the whole spirit of the original songs and aren’t just redone à la dubstep. (Please god, no Enya Brostep!)

DNTEL - Carribean Blue

From Jimmy Tamborello aka DNTEL – “I make music as Dntel, my last few releases have come out on Sub Pop. I’ve loved Enya since I was a teenager and I just finished this mini-album of remixes I did this past fall after a marathon revisiting of her records. I’m really proud of it, but unfortunately I couldn’t figure out a way to give it a legitimate release. I felt like if I tried to get it to her through any of the usual channels it would probably get shut down before it even made it to her ears. Hopefully nobody will mind it floating around, it was made with love and no money will be made off of it. I hope you enjoy it!!”
