Forgotten Treasure: Black Uhuru “Youth of Eglington” (1981)

Reggae

This is one of my favorite Black Uhuru tracks. They are a legendary Jamaican group whose members changed over the years but have always been backed by Sly & Robie on production. At the time this record was being made, Brixton was ablaze with riots, and this song is like a call to arms for those kids in the hood. Obviously the best years for reggae were the 70’s but this is one of the few 80’s tracks that really do it for me. I used to play this track almost every week back in the day at my Blizzarts weekly fridays.

live version, 1981
