Future Classic: Isaiah Rashad “The Sun’s Tirade”

Hip-Hop

Adding to the collection of classic TDE releases is “The Sun’s Tirade” the debut studio album by Tennessee rapper Isaiah Rashad.

Since releasing his debut project, “Cilvia Demo EP,” Rashad has gone through depression, anxiety and isolation as well as dealing with xanax and alcohol addiction. Having nearly been dropped from his label three times because of this, he finally got himself together to release his new project- an introspective project I would describe simply as smooth.

With silky basslines and colourful keys and memorable melodies, “The Sun Tirade” is a rich addition to an already incredible year for hip-hop. TDE members Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and SZA feature on this album, and highlights include the lead single “Free Lunch,” “Wat’s Wrong” featuring Kendrick Lamar and Zacari, “Bday”, featuring Deacon Blues and Kari Faux (the keys looped throughout this song are just flawless), and the closer, “Find a Topic (homies begged),” a soulful cut.

Isaiah Rashad has already proved himself to be a huge talent. With “The Sun’s Tirade,” he proved to be more than just a rapper, but a rapper and a singer too. The soul and jazz throughout this project will make it a perfect soundtrack for the Autumn.
