Thes-1 and Double K are always coming correct, holdin’ down the original boom-bap that we all know and love. I first discovered People Under The Stairs during a summer break in my early highschool days when life was stress-free. A time when every day was meant for doing nothing except chilling in an outdoor club-house my friends and I built in a neighbourhood park. Every time I listen to anything by PUTS I am instantly brought back to that care-free time, and the feeling is exactly the same with their latest EP “The Gettin’ Off Stage, Step 2”.

Thes-1’s production is consistently 100% dope, staying true to his signature style of crate-digger loops and chops. Double K demonstrates his heightened skills on the wheels of steel, especially on “After These Messages”. Not to mention the two are both phenomenal emcees. Listening to PUTS feels like listening to two best friends simply having the time of their lives creating great music together, showing off their individual skills and then joining up to trade some bars back and forth with each other.

I saw People Under The Stairs perform back in 2014 and it was one of the best hip-hop shows I’ve ever been to. It was so live! The energy was high right off the bat and the entire crowd was jumping at the first song, rapping along to every single lyric. These dudes are hip-hop in its purest form. “The only way my life makes sense – diggin’ in the crates”
