Future Classic: Unknown Mortal Orchestra “So Good At Being In Trouble”

I was in deep deep music research mode for a music documentary project. Digging in styles I wouldn’t necessarily naturally do research in. Stuff like Tropical, Indie, Pop… and strangely enough the same ratio of awful VS “meh” VS awesome applies when you go out of your confort zone.

After digging around in the current “indie” releases I found this gem by the Unknown Mortal Orchestra. To be honest they had me with the first few guitar licks and the funky drums. Sounded like something like the Dap Kings or Menahan Street Band except instead of the crazy horn section you get a very blue eyed soul meets lo-fi rock type of thing. It’s a grower!
