Forgotten Treasures

Forgotten Treasure: In Touch ft. Ce Ce Rogers “No Love Lost” Lost Mix (1994)

House / Techno

In a perfect world this would have been a crossover smash hit. In reality this was not even close to be a minor hit. This might be due to the fact that the best version was never included on the commercial release. The title of this mix – Lost Mix – was probably a premonition by itself. The only way to get it was on the promo copy. Groove On records was distributed by Strictly Rhythm and was George Morel label. Both Ce Ce Rogers and George Morel had monsters hits back in the early days of the House music explosion. Why that version was never officially released remains a complete mystery to me.

Ce Ce Rogers delivers an exquisite vocal delivery over a very simple but powerful Georges Morel production. The track gives enough room to Mr. Rogers to do his thing and to showcase the many shades of his vocal skills. Though in 1994 we already knew that he was one of the best House music male vocalist, so in that sense, he had nothing to prove. In simple words, he’s just killing it here. The energy of this song is extremely strong and played the right way, this can be massive on the floor.

So I’m still left wondering how come this wasn’t played that much and why I only met one single person being super enthusiastic about this song in 20 years. “No Love Lost” is not as political then “Someday” or “Brothers & Sisters” but it is one of the most heartfelt House music love song ever made, in my humble opinion… To me, it
stands as tall as most of the Strictly Rhythm huge hits around that time.
