Future Classic: Deep88 ft Robert Owens “Believe In You”

One of the main thing I feel this whole late 80’s / early 90’s house revival is really lacking : great vocal performances. There’s are many “tracks” and beats around but not that many “songs”. However, here is a very surprising and interesting exception. A new project from Deep88 featuring none other than the legendary Robert Owens himself.

“Believe In You” is a very subtle but powerful song that takes us back straight to 1988 when Fingers Inc. were at their peak. The Deep88 production, his great drums programming and his sweet dreamy minimalistic keys give the perfect room for Mr. Owens to lay down a mesmerizing and highly emotive delivery.

The original version is definitely an essential late night groover, but that’s not all. Flip for the B-side to experience Dadame’s takes for an extra deep yet massively raw excursion. A really big release for me out on the excellent 12 Records out of Germany. This is highly addictive…
