Future Classic: Burial “Street Halo”

UK Garage / Grime / 2step / Dubstep

Yeah, the hardcore heads already know that this has been out for a few days but I like to digest releases for a few days before giving my humble opinion on them. So after almost three years after the last Burial LP – an album that was pretty much hailed as an instant classic – let’s just say that the expectations are wayyyy high.

So here it is. Long story short, the very recognizable “Burial” sound is still very much there. Not that it’s a bad thing, but let’s just say that the distant dramatic wails and sounds of echoed footsteps in the rain are starting to sound a bit less original. But who cares right? Only Burial is like Burial, so that’s good enough. I’ll be playing 2 tracks from the 3 track EP quite a lot. “Street Halo” is pretty much on the same tip as the collaboration track with Four Tet called “Moth”. I’m absolutely loving “NYC” though, a 105bpm thats all feeling. Gets a 6 for originality but a 9 for the result.
