Forgotten Treasure: George Duke “Reach for it” (1977)

Since George Duke is gracing the cover of the brand new issue of Wax Poetics #46 (details here) I figured i’d hook up a little track from him.

Now this isn’t George Duke’s most obscure track but digging out the rarest of the rare has never been the “forgotten treasures” section’s mandate. Sometimes we just wanna remind ourselves of the classics y’know? So this is one my favorite boogie-funk tracks to play that works wonders on a dancefloor even when some people don’t know it.

For those who can’t remember where you heard this sample being used, it was on the posse track “The Cypher pt.III” with Roxanne Shante, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie and Craig G. Another slept-on classic.
