Exclusive Premiere: Javonntte “Day Dreaming” (Boogie Cafe)
It would be fair to say that Detroit’s Javonntte (AKA original ’90s deep house producer Brian Garrett) has been making up for lost time. Since returning to action in 2016, he’s released no less than ten 12″ singles, all of which have been packed with high quality material. We are over the moon to be bringing this EP of Motor City fire to Boogie Cafe table.
Uk Express is a four tracker steeped in his smooth and sultry sound, leading in with the dance floor destroyer and title track UK Express high on a life-affirming organ line and soaring strings over a heavy kick. Samba say has a lush hypnotic pseudo gospel vibe with a bumping baseline that drives the track along nicely. Into the Night takes a more sultry approach, locking into a tightly shuffling groove peppered with bugging chords and breathless vocal murmurs. Finally Daydreaming brings a ray of sunshine with javonntte’s blessed and truly elevating vocals taking you to a happy place over some gorgeous melodic flexing.
