Forgotten Treasures

Forgotten Treasure : Nohelani Cypriano “Lihue” (1977)

Soul & Funk Worldwide Sounds

I’ve been known to let videos speak for themselves when it comes to the 80’s. (Check out this post on Midnight Express’ “Danger Zone”)

Well this track is no different, when I heard it on a Hawaiian music compilation LP (Home Grown vol.2) I was blown away by the bassline and Cypriano’s sunny voice. Then I searched out more info, but could only find this amazing video that immediately takes you on a relaxing trip to that island paradise and the BetaMax 80s in one fell swoop. Enjoy

This track is also the source behind a wonderful revision by Maximillion Dunbar called “Bare Feet” which appeared on the monthly MIMS Show #68.
