High Klassified “Kanvaz” (Fool’s Gold Records)

Beats Hip-Hop

Fresh off his first platinum plaque, the Laval producer comes through with a stellar and eclectic EP.

To think he almost lost it all! Indeed, after having his hard drive stolen mid-performance… all the material for High Klassified’s upcoming album was suddenly lost. Except for one beat that became Future’s platinum banger ‘Coming Out Strong’ featuring The Weeknd, HK had to start from scratch. Well, the unfortunate event seems to not have slowed down his creative process, because the outcome is one of HK’s most ambitious project yet: the EP titled “Kanvaz”.

High Klassified has indicated he’s started to prefer working with vocalists recently, and the variety of guest vocals from the sultry Leaf to the ever fresh Zach Zoya really contributed to Kanvaz’s overall depth. The EP starts off with ‘Stenio Keytar’ where we immediately dive into the young producer’s spacey video game infused universe. We are then swept away to ‘Come Over’ to a more hypnotic realm where HK effectively explores the R&B universe. After a few golden intro bars we shift into a higher tempo House bounce with help from the silky smooth producer Da-P. ‘NS Bounce’ really captures High Klassified’s happy go lucky approach to music and will surely be a hit in the club.

Speaking of which, the single ‘1919’ featuring future star Zach Zoya, has already gotten much burn from Fool’s Gold and is a great example of HK adapting his production for multi-faceted artists. He makes a very complex song structure, full of different transitions and vocal tones, seem like a coherent whole with ease. Kefka brings us back to his spaceship basement studio and to the sound we fell in love with from the beginning. All in all, High Klass has not missed a step and his most recent project is another stone in his path, moving forward on the international stage while maintaining a unique style and not compromising his sound.

“Kanvaz” released April 27, 2018 on Fool’s Gold Records
