Seb Fauteux – in 10 Records

The world’s first “around the clock” musical marathon dedicated to vinyl records & DJ culture returns for its unmissable annual edition at the Nuit Blanche in Montréal.

Casino of Montréal presents the 21st edition of the 24 Hours of Vinyl, part of the official Nuit Blanche in Montréal programming.

In honour of his upcoming set at our beloved 24 Hours of Vinyl event, we wanted to have a talk with Montreal’s Seb Fauteux about… records! What else!?

What is the last record you bought?

It’s always a great day when Marc Leclair aka Akufen releases a new records … The title track talk by himself ! Classy Akuken twist.

Akufen ‎– We Shall Not Surrender

One record from your want list you’d love to find

I know they reissued it 2019 old material from them … but i’m still chasing this lovers material 🙂 THE SAX in Loveroom. Really on the B-movie tip.

Frank Harris With Maria Marquez – Loveroom

Record that never leaves your DJ bag

Ben Watt’s classic “Wrong” mashed up with Sandy Rivera’s “Come in my room” is one of my ultimate secret weapons. Don’t get me wrong it’s pure Magic !

EBTG* vs Soul Vision ‎– Tracey In My Room

Perfect lazy sunday record

This one is the soundtrack of our family sunday morning … fits perfectly with a great espresso & gorgeous Pain Dorée with fruit. Chilly jazzy stuff ! Must have

Dezron Douglas & Brandee Younger – Gospel Trane (from Force Majeure)

Your most influential teenage years record

Huge Game changer 4 me …Dilla in full effect. Those snares!

A Tribe Called Quest – Beats, Rhymes And Life

What would be your post-pandemic peaktime DJ set record

I would play the entire 12min song from beginning to the end on any dancefloor! In any club or dark basement. FREE! (shoutout to my partner in crime Christel for the tips. I really wanna dance this one with you)

Ultra Naté – Free (Mood II Swing Extended Vocal Mix)

A DJ request you’ve actually said yes to

Ultimate feel good song I always go dance along with the crowd.

Bill Withers – Lovely Day

A Quebec or Canadian record you love

I received this one from an older friend and it blew my mind. After many years in my bag, I’ve found this record is also in many dj’s wantlist… It was reissued last year.

Angelillo Et Hamel ‎– Je Veux Te Dire Une Chanson

Guilty pleasure record

A really funky Québec record. Everybody should know that voice. Les Trottoirs Du Boulevard Saint-Laurent is the one 🙂

Diane Tell – Chimères

A record you’ve paid serious money for (but don’t regret buying)

Never paid more than box for a record, but that Afrofunk anthem got me. I found this gem at Death of vinyl in Montreal. Ya na Séé could destroy every dance-floor.

Deka Koma*, West African New Sound ‎– Yoro Pŏ

Record you love playing that clears the floor every time

Sky train vocal mix. Love that chilly & mellow vibes by the singer Nite Jewel but when the song goes in the mix, you always lose the energy. I still love playing it though.

Omar-S ‎– Side Trakx Vol#5

Record someone gave you recently (if you like it of course)

Yes again. My good friends Noé offered me a repress of this masterpiece. The songs Complicité & Je veux te dire une chanson are my jams.

Angelillo & Hamel – Complicité

Record you’d give your 10 year old self

I’ve finally bought this record last year, I originally had it on CD. TA perfect album, beats, rhymes & life. Luv pt3 4 life !

Nujabes – Modal Soul
